Terms of service

The terms we work by.

Who we are

Boring Commerce LLP is a performance marketing agency registered in India. These terms cover this website, the services we provide to brands, and the Boring Commerce app for Shopify stores. By using any of them you agree to these terms.

Our workshops and courses have their own terms, shown on their pages. When we sign a proposal or agreement with a client, that document governs the work it describes, and it wins over these terms where the two differ.

This website

You may read and share the pages on this site. Please do not copy our content to pass it off as your own, try to break into the site, or use it to send spam. What we collect when you fill a form is set out in our privacy policy.

The Boring Commerce Shopify app

The app connects a Shopify store to our team so we can audit the store and report on its sales. It reads the store’s orders, products, inventory, discounts, store analytics and customer records. It does not read customer names, email addresses, phone numbers or addresses. It only reads: it never changes anything on the store.

The app has no charge. The audit and reports are our analysis and recommendations; decisions about the store and its advertising stay with the store owner. You can uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin, under Settings, Apps.

How we process store data

This section is our data processing agreement with every merchant who installs the app. The merchant decides why its customers’ data is processed. We process it only on the merchant’s behalf, to prepare the merchant’s audit and reports, and for no other purpose.

What we do not do. We do not sell store data or share it with other merchants. We do not use it to advertise to the store’s customers, to build profiles of them, or to make automated decisions about them. We do not combine one merchant’s data with another’s.

Security. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Only the members of our team who work on that store can see it, each with their own sign in. Everyone on our team is bound to keep client data confidential.

Service providers. We store data with cloud hosting and database providers. They process it only for us, under security and confidentiality terms, and may hold it in India or other countries where they operate. We will tell merchants about a new kind of provider before it receives store data.

Customer requests. When Shopify passes us a customer’s request to see or delete their data, we answer it within 30 days. We help merchants answer their own customers’ requests on request.

Incidents. If store data is accessed without authorisation, we tell the merchant without undue delay, and within 72 hours of finding out, with what happened and what we are doing about it.

Keeping and deleting. We keep store data while the app is installed. When it is uninstalled we stop reading the store. When Shopify then asks us to erase the store’s data, we delete everything that identifies the store’s customers. A merchant can ask us to delete all of its store’s data at any time, and we will.

Questions and checks. We answer reasonable questions from a merchant about how its data is handled, and give the information it needs to meet its own data protection obligations.

Liability

The website and the app are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profit, arising from their use. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects how we process store data, we tell stores that have the app installed before it takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.
